Alexandria Needs Your Help

Alexandria "Ally" is a survivor! She survived being dumped at a kill shelter and even more triumphant, she survived Parvo. Now she is fighting for her life again. A few short weeks ago she was at the vet on IV fluids battling Giardia which is not normally fatal, but due to a compromised immune system, most likely as an after affect of Parvo, her body is unable to fight off infections that normal healthy dogs are able to fend off. Ally was sent home after one week at the vet, weak but in good spirits. Once again, due to her inadequate immune system, her body began to fight itself and she broke out with demodex mange. Easily treated, but uncomfortable for poor Ally. For one week she was at home and acting like a typically puppy - running, chewing, playing. And then out of nowhere she became lethargic and had a high fever. The foster immediately rushed her to the vet and she will remain there until we feel it's safe to release her. The current battle is Pyothorax which is an infection in the chest cavity. Pus in the chest cavity results in scarring and impaired lung function. It's quite serious and can be fatal if not treated promptly and aggressively. The vet is trying everything and she will remain under observation and care. As you can imagine, the vet bill is quite costly. Donations would be greatly appreciated to help with her continued care and her fight for her life.Alexandria will be available for adoption once she has recuperated http://www.ehrdogs.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=10855230
