My baby, Hazel, has several mast cell tumors that are malignant. They have all been a very slow growing until about 2-3 weeks ago when the tumor on her belly began to grow rapidly. The treatment plan had been to watch them and remove them as needed in the event they became an issue. That day came last Saturday when the tumor began growing and finally began to rupture. She was placed on steroids and other medication to maintain the tumor until it can be removed. However, poor Hazel is sensitive to medication, and while the medication worked to quell the tumor, it has made her very sick. So, until the tumor can be removed, she will be either very ill on the meds, or the tumor will continue to grow and rupture. It's a lose/lose situation. I feel uncomfortable asking people for money, but my pride is not worth Hazel continuing to suffer. The vet said she is a good candidate for surgery, but the cost is huge and we're in a time crunch to get her back to feeling like her happy, sweet self again. Hazel and I truly appreciate your help.
