A Friend In Need

Hi friends, you all know our sweet friend Verdell. I've personally known Verdell for over 35 years. She has raised two amazing kids, Victoria and Joseph as a single mom on a Dental Hygienist salary since her husband died over 10 years ago.  She took care of both her parents until they were gone and now Verdell needs our help!!

Yesterday Verdell fell and broke her arm in two places and has a concussion trying to patch up her car before heading off to work. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance crying in pain. She is so scared that she and the kids may lose their home and not be able to make it until she can return to work.

Verdell has worked as a Dental Hygenist for many years and has never had health insurance. She may be facing surgery in the coming weeks and will not be able to work for minimum of six weeks. This means she will have no income during this time. Life has thrown a lot at Verdell, but if resilience had a face it would be hers. She keeps going and never asks for help, but today we must pitch in and help her. Her children, Victoria and Joseph are both attending U of H full-time and both have part time jobs and live with mom. They all need our help to keep things going until Verdell can get back to work.

I'm always amazed at how many of us Sharpstown Alumni have maintained friendships and stayed in touch. There are many of you out there who know and love Verdell. Please help, no amount is too small. Thanks to all.
