Stephanies Sri Lanka placement

Hello,

I am spending a month in Sri Lanka as part of my degree in Nursing.

I hope to experience a different culture and attitude towards health. I will be spending three weeks in a hospital in Kandy. Two of these weeks will be on an Intensive care unit and one week will be on a plastics ward. My last week is going to be spent in an Ayurvedic setting. This is an approach to health that is integral in Sri Lankan culture. It simply means "˜traditional medicine' and as many as 70% of Sri Lankans turn to an Ayurvedic practitioner and shun the city hospitals. I hope to have the basics of health and the role of the nurse reinforced.

The trip is going to cost roughly £2250 in total including visa flights, insurance etc.

I am using every means I have to fund this trip because it means the world to me.
