Conor's 2016 Olympic Dream
My name is Kristin, but this story is not about me. I am Conor McCullough's coworker. He is an Occupational Therapist who works at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills, CA. He participated in the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. His sport was the hammer throw.
Conor has 2 sons, Brian (16), and Conor Jr. (25). His eldest son Conor had interest in the hammer throw sport at the age of 10. With his Dad's coaching as well as coaching from Hal Connolly, Conor became very good at the sport. With the help of USC Coach Dan Lang he became great.
Fifteen years of hard work and dedication has paid off! On July 13th, Conor Jr. found out that he made the 2016 Olympic team and was headed to Rio. Tears of joy were mixed with tears of sadness because on July 12th his grandmother, Noreen McCullough was laid to rest in Ireland. She passed days earlier from a heart attack.
Conor Sr. immediately flew to Ireland for the funeral and to be with his family. When Conor returned from Ireland, I told him how sorry I was to hear about his loss, but also congratulated him on his son's success. I asked him when he was leaving to be with his son in Rio. Conor said, "I'm not!" Conor was too humble to tell me that he no longer had the funds.
Conor would never ask for help or a handout. That is why his colleagues from Kaiser Permanente are asking. PLEASE help Conor Sr. and his son Brian go to the Olympics and cheer on Conor Jr.
Any donation is greatly appreciated!!
