NCSS Conference in Washington, DC

Over the past four years, I have been fortunate enough to attend National Social Studies Conferences in Seattle, Washington, St. Louis, Missouri, Boston, Massachusetts, and New Orleans, Louisiana. Throughout the conferences, I attended various workshops and learned valuable lessons and resources from teachers all around the country. They were all unbelievable experiences! When I came home, I used the ideas in my own classroom to help educate my students. Of course, I also shared the material I received with my colleagues :)
This year, the conference is being held in Washington, DC. Can you believe "Mr. Social Studies" has never been to our nation's Capitol? So, as you might have guessed, I would like to attend and learn more. Unfortunately, as with the last four years, the school system will not be able to fund my trip.
In 2012, I personally spent over $2000 in conference and travel expenses.
In 2013, my trip was completely funded by the generosity and support of families at my school. I raised over $1400 :)
In 2014, with the support of families at my school, I raised enough money to pay for my airfare and conference registration.
Last year, my trip was completely funded by the generosity and support of families at my school and Facebook friends. As in 2013, I raised over $1400 :)
This year, the trip is a little more expensive even though I'm driving instead of flying.
The 2016 conference in Washington, DC is from December 2nd-4th. I have estimated that the trip will cost about $1520. The details of the trip are as follows:
$275.00 Conference Registration
$1245.00 Hotel (4 nights) with Parking
Please DON'T feel obligated to donate! However, I appreciate any and all donations. On August 1st, I will "close" the site to begin making travel arrangements.
I assure you that each dollar I receive will go towards the conference. Whatever amount I don't raise through donations, I will cover at my own expense.
