June 1, 2013 - Mark was diagnosed with Stage 4, Hodgkin's disease in 1984. After a year of surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, he beat the disease. Now, cancer has presented itself again in the form of a squamous cell tumor that began on the cheek. On June 6^th 2013, Mark is facing a 7 to 15 hour surgery to remove his left eye, the orbit and his cheek bone down to the top of his jaw bone that supports his top teeth on the left side. After this surgery, he will endure 6 ½ weeks of radiation twice daily as well as chemotherapy. The doctors have given a 75% chance of beating this insidious disease again. Once the cancer has been removed, they will begin reconstruction of his face and eye. We are optimistic regarding his recovering although the road will be long and hard.
