Dad was diagnosed with a lung condition in May called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. This unfortunately is a condition that at this moment has limited available treatment, with the only permanent treatment being a lung transplant.
Unfortunately, Dad became very sick very quickly in September which disqualified him from the Colorado transplant list. He was then emergency flown to St. Louis where he was placed on ECMO to put him at the top of their transplant list. He THANK GOD after about 10 days, Dad was able to get ONE lung transplanted. During the operation he had some significant bleeding which meant he couldn't get the second lung in. He will probably not get a second lung, but the team believes he can and will have a completely normal life. Since then there have been a lot of peaks and valleys of his progress, but slowly but surely we are making GREAT progress. Because of a pretty significant set back, Mom and Dad will probably be in St. Louis at least through February 2021.
We are asking for financial assistance. By going to St. Louis, Mom is has had to take an extended leave of absence from work without pay.
If possible, we would love help with paying for Dad's health insurance to make sure he can continue to get treatment without interruption, housing assistance, food, etc. Anything helps and we are forever grateful for anything anyone can give in these difficult times as we know most families are already "money tight" and worried about their own families right now.
We appreciate all of you!
