Clayton's fight against Cancer
Donation protected
As I sit here and share Clayton's story, I do so with a very humbled spirit. My name is Jacqui Garrett & my husband/best friend of 30 yrs., Clayton, @ the age of 47, was diagnosed in Feb. of 2015 with Stage IV Prostate Cancer. Shortly thereafter, the cancer metastasized to his bones. In August, Clayton was forced to stop working. This devastated him, as he loved his job. He had been a proud, diligent car salesman for nearly 20yrs. I've since had to take a leave of absence from my job to be his full-time primary caretaker/advocate.
Clayton's love of life & people has never been compromised, even though he can no longer walk unassisted, nor see anything more than a shadow. In conjunction with the anemia, vitamin & iron deficiencies, temporary memory loss & dehydration, we were just told today. that he will need eye surgery. In all of this, he still smiles & tries ever-so-often, to tell a joke or two if he can remember it.
We are currently overwhelmed by Medical expenses including co-pays, prescriptions & travel. We are forced to go out-of-state (800 + miles) for quality treatment at Cancer Treatment Center of America (CTCA) in Atlanta, GA, bi-weekly, (4-5 days) where we stay at various hotels at additional cost. Our insurance will not pay for treatment at CTCA, in the state where we live.
At CTCA in Atlanta, his team is aggressive & very optimistic about Clayton's quality of life during and after his completion of treatment.
To know Clayton is to love Clayton.
For those of you who can donate, I thank you for being motivated to give.
For those who cannot contribute at this time, I thank you for taking the time to read Clayton's story.
I beseech you all to continue to pray for Clayton & our two children, as the pilar of our unit is in need.
Respectfully submitted,
His loving wife
