24-hour grapple for veteran's fundraiser
Spende geschützt
Veterans Mixed Martial Arts LTD is a new registered charity on the Sunshine Coast, and we are holding a fundraiser on the 11th of November (Remembrance Day) to raise funds for our new organisation. Three of the founding creators and charity members will grapple in Brazilian jujitsu against new opponents for 24 hours, from 1101 Friday the 11th (after the minutes silence) until 1101 Saturday the 12th.
The funds will be used to help support our program and community for veterans. It's designed to help struggling veterans with impairments (physical and mental) and aid them in finding a happier existence in civilian life. Many veterans do not manage day-to-day existence well after dedicating a large portion of their life to the defence force. Trained to fight wars, exposed to violence, trauma and a disciplined lifestyle, Veterans often come back to civilian life desensitised and feel alone and don't fit in. Most come back with mental illnesses such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, alcohol or drug abuse etc. This particular program is here for veterans to be a part of a like-minded community, to train, improve fitness and learn a martial art away from judgment and within a sound environment. We are giving veterans a safe community to train in a few days a week where they can also hang out and socialise with other veterans, enabling them to go about their civilian lives in a happier more relaxed state.
