It has been over a year since 9 year old Maia Beth Kapanicas started having siezures. Maia and her family have traveled to Oahu and Arizona multiple times enduring medical tests and surgery trying to diagnose the worsening siezures. Finally, in February of 2016 they got the news no parent ever wants to receive, their only child Maia was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor on her optic nerve. The location in her brain is not operable and in danger of compromising her vision to the point of blindness in one eye. Her parents are committed to do whatever it takes to get the proper care for her. Maia and her mom have traveled to Arizona to receive proton therapy a type of radiation to reduce the tumor. They will be there for three months for this daily treatment. 
Needless to say medical bills are piling up, and her mom has had to take a leave from her job. Many friends have expressed the want to help, so a few of us created this fund for Maia's medical expenses. We deeply appreciate any donation made on Maia's behalf.
