'14 Summer Internship at Dinosaur Museum
Hello, my name is Quincy Slotemaker, and I am finishing my Junior year at
Montana Bible College. I have an opportunity again this summer to intern at the Glendive Dinosaur and Fossil
Museum.
This is a non-paid internship
(they provide housing only), and since summer is normally the time I crank up
the hours delivering pizza for college money, I need to reach out to friends, family,
church members, and random people to ask for financial assistance.
Here's how the math breaks down: An average week delivering
pizza in the summer nets me about $300 (wage & tips - taxes - gas),
so I need to raise $2,100 for the 7-week internship to keep finances on
track for college. Please consider being a "day sponsor" for $50 or a "week
sponsor" for $300. I will send a bone I dig up this summer - along with an explanation - to anyone contributing $300 or more!
This is not just a whim or something fun to do. This is the 3rd Summer I'll be "digging up dinosaurs":
The summer after my Freshman year (2012), I took an archaeology class (MBC partners with the Glendive Dinosaur Museum), and it was an amazing experience. We not only did textbook
learning, but got to dig bones as well.
The summer after my Sophomore year (2013), I did a 5-week summer internship at the Glendive Dinosaur Museum and spent my time leading tour groups, speaking about exhibits, digging fossils in the field, working in the lab, and assisting groups at the dig site.
This coming Summer (2014), I have opportunity to assist with teaching and supervising the dig activities of the MBC class and then staying on board for May, June, and part of July to expand on my experiences from last summer. It is a fantastic opportunity to do even more, and I am really excited about it.
Thank you so much for your time in reading this. I appreciate any
financial help and support that you can provide.
Quincy
