13 dogs are out of hell!

13 dogs are out of their cramped, filthy quarters and enjoying life again! Acting on a tip from a neighbor, two of our senior staff met deputies last night around 7 P.M. and spent the next three hours collecting evidence and removing dogs from their squalid conditions.

This is another stark reminder of the need for parish governments to fund and provide animal control services. Had we not intervened, the dogs would likely have continued to suffer. Many rural parishes refuse to fund animal control services. As a result, these essential services fall to charities and rescue groups. Imagine if government administrations relied on non-profits to provide fire and police protection. It's an untenable situation that we have to address as a community.

We plan to send these photos to the parish council members and state lawmakers and ask for their help in funding these services in the future. Your donations will allow us to provide them with boarding and medical care.
