Meet ET, one of five kittens being fostered by us since infancy. He is the runt of his litter, and we noticed right away that he was an exceptionally special kitten with some unexpectedly special needs. ET’s development was very slow and abnormal. After several weeks in our care, including time spent bonding with him and his siblings through bottle feeding, our vet diagnosed ET with hydrocephalus.

Hydrocephalus is a condition where brain fluid builds up in the skull and causes the enlarged, abnormally-shaped head you see in ET’s pictures below. It can later lead to seizures, blindness, mobility struggles, and other neurological problems. Left untreated, hydrocephalus is usually fatal.

The solution is a surgery that places a shunt in the head and allows fluid to move out of the brain. MRI scans are also needed to accompany this surgery. We will be looking for a special adopter and forever family for ET, and these funds will be made available for his treatment.

ET is a delightful, energetic kitten who loves to play. His favorite activities are batting around ping pong balls, tumbling with his turbo scratcher toy, and purring in the arms of anyone who comes near. He loves wrestling with his siblings and has enthusiastically welcomed new foster kittens into the mix despite his handicaps. 

ET has so much light to bring to this world and his future forever family. We want him to grow big and strong and live his life to the absolute fullest. Please help us give him this life-saving treatment!
