So, hello.
My name is Anthony DellaRosa.
I'm an agoraphobic, autistic, non-binary trans person with borderline personality disorder, major depression, and C-PTSD.
I lead with these things because, well, they affect my ability to keep a job, which affects my income, which affects my ability pay for pretty basic dental care myself, which is why I'm here doing this campaign right now.
I have a number of badly decayed and broken teeth, and about three months ago, I had one of them get so severely infected, I literally could not keep myself from screaming every time the pain hit. There was so much blood, and the the pain was so bad that, if we're being absolutely honest, I'm still having nightmares about it.
I ended up having to crowdfund the money to get that tooth extracted, but, unfortunately, that's not the end of it.
I still have three more teeth actively giving me pain every day, and a whole mouth full of pretty advanced decay is turning the rest of my teeth into, essentially, ticking time bombs. But my dentist says he can't address the pain, or do any preventative care, until I commit to a full-mouth deep cleaning. That *has* to be step number one, he says.
And if I can't do that, then I'm just going to keep repeating the same pattern over and over and over again. More and more and more of my teeth are going to get infected, and bleed, and have to be removed. More and more and more of them are going to hurt like that last one hurt, and I can't. I can't do that again. I don't have it in me.
I can't do that all over again.
And I don't want to lose any more teeth.
The only way to move forward, the only way to get ahead of this, is to do the deep cleaning.
But I can't afford the deep cleaning.
My family and I live paycheck to paycheck. We have no savings. We have nothing to spare.
