Edison High Arts Legacy Fund

Spende geschützt
This past April, the Edison Community and Sports Foundation agreed to sponsor a special fund that is dedicated to supporting fine arts at Edison.  In our initial fundraiser at the foundation’s May banquet, we raised over $3,000.  We offer our sincere thanks to those of you that gave in during that fundraiser.  It is our goal that, before the end of 2016, we will increase the size of the fund to $8,000.  Then, the fund will be supervised by a designate of the Edison Community and Sports Foundation, and money will be distributed to Thomas Edison fine arts faculty by special application for projects and equipment updates that will directly benefit Edison students.

The support for the arts by the Minneapolis Public Schools and Edison leadership has been exceptional.  There have been great strides made in the last five years with increases in offerings in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional visual art, instrumental and vocal music, and theater arts.  Thomas Edison High School Theater, the after-school, student-governed theater company, has continued to grow every year and is producing The Wiz this fall with a cast, crew, and staff of over fifty students.  As these programs are all thriving, however, the students and teachers that are committed to pursuing excellence in the arts require additional funds to support the increasing demands of our materials and equipment.  We also desire to make greater connections within our community and take on more ambitious projects, and such projects require additional money.

Will you please consider making a gift for the Thomas Edison Fine Arts Legacy Fund?
