Support Standing Rock
Donation protected
The Water Protectors of Standing Rock have sent out a call. They need support in their peaceful and prayerful resistance to the illegal construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, which plans to pipe oil underneath the Missouri river.
I will be going out to Standing Rock in December to support in any practical way I can. I will be funding my own journey and costs in full and making a donation and invite you here to join me. I will be writing a blog as a way to observe and bear witness to what is happening there: www.notesfromstandingrock.org
Many tribes and people are gathering on the Native American reservation to protect their lifeline, the Missouri River. They are holding a vision for the world that the water, the land and the air will be protected and treated with respect for generations to come. Without clean water we cannot live. Water is life. We are water.
Winter temperatures in North Dakota can reach −51 °C. There are elders, women and young children living in the camps. People are in urgent need of warm shelters, winter sleeping bags, medical supplies, fuel, food and hay for their horses as well as legal funding. They also have a major need for a 4x4 vehicle in order to transport the injured in the snow. Many people have given up their jobs in order to protect the water.
.
I invite you to be a part of supporting the vision of the Water Protectors, by making a donation, small or large - even £5 makes a difference, as does sharing this widely, and by offering your prayers. All your donations will go directly to where they are needed at the camp.
Thank you so much.
