Help Donavyn get to Summer Nationals

Hi my name is Donavyn, I am 10 years old and I love the sport of Fencing. When I was 5 years old I became a fan of Star Wars. I wanted to learn how to use a lightsaber like the ones in the movies. My dad then took me to my first fencing class. No lightsaber's, but I got to play with a sword. This was my introduction to the sport of fencing. By the age of 8, with good training I began competing within California. For the 2013-2014 season, I have attended 4 tournaments within California, overall as of now for the 10year old Boys Foil I am placing within the top 5, and for the 12year old Boys Foil I am placing within the top 16. Fencing is fun, and I always look forward to going to practice which is three times a week.


I would be excited to be part of the USA Fencing in July's: 2014 Summer Nationals held in Ohio. I have never traveled outside of California, and I've never been on a airplane before. Having the opportunity to fence and meet other fencers from across the US would be awesome!

2013-2014 School Year:
Donavyn is a well rounded 10year old boy, with good character, and a positive attitude. This school year so far he has been recognized with Honor Roll & Merit List standings, and currently holds a 3.2 GPA. He is currently the Student Body Vice President for his school, and attends Leadership classes, along with a GATE class. Donavyn enjoys helping out with Safety Patrol and Reading Buddies. As far as school sports, he has participated in Flag Football and Cross Country. He loves playing the guitar, reading books, and a good game of chess. He's a good Kid!

We think that attending Summer National's would be a great opportunity for him. As Donavyn told us, "nothing's impossible", "there's a way". He researched, asked questions, and has set his goal to attend the USA Fencing Summer Nationals.
