Prissy and Pop's Helping Hooves

Most of you know we answered the call for help for over a dozen pigs left abandoned on property not far from our home in Taylor, FL. The owner had been sent to jail and the property sold and the daughter was trying to find homes for the pigs before they were shot by neighbors. They were starting to wander off, because no one was there to feed them. With the help of one other lady from the pig community and a few of her friends, we were able to save them ALL. Not counting the three that were dumped on our property in October (Larry, Moe & Curly), SEVEN pigs from the Taylor property came to live at Prissy and Pop's Helping Hooves (P.J., Taylor, Alison, Jean, Levi, Lee and Wrangler). Those seven pigs have now turned into FIFTEEN pigs with the addition of Taylor and Alison's piglets, Travis, Kelce, Marjorie, Betty, Abigail, Daisy May, Romeo and Juliet. That makes a total of 18 new pigs since October. Many of you were able to donate when we first rescued these pigs. We are so grateful. We were able to get immediate vet care for them and have Larry, Moe, Curly and P.J. neutered immediately. We have integrated some of the pigs into existing pigs, but we don't have room for this many. We desperately need a new house and pen!

With what we have left from the initial donations, we are now tasked with raising the additional amount needed for the following...

We need a new HOUSE and PEN for Mama Taylor, Mama Alison and their 8 piglets.

We need to have all eight piglets spayed/neutered.

We need to have Mama Jean, Mama Taylor and Mama Alison Spayed.

Please join us in create a catopia for the cats of Prissy and Pop's Helping Hooves. We are raising funds to run electrical out to our big barn and have an ac/heating system installed. We also want to screen in the front porch to create a catio for them to have some outside time on nice days. too. Later we will fill the inside with cat trees, toys, tunnels, beds, and anything else a cat could want. This space will be a HUGE playroom for the cats to go visit when they are not inside the house. We do so much for our piggy residents, and we want our cats to be spoiled, too.

Mama Priscilla was brought in as a stray to the Flagler Humane Society in North Florida. She was wandering the streets alone with no food or water. She lived at the Humane Society for a couple of months before they noticed she was pregnant. When they arrived at work one morning they saw that she had delivered one piglet (who we later named Presley). However, once several hours had passed with no more piglets they became concerned. They tried to find a vet to come out but couldn’t. We are so grateful to them for the love and care they showed to this sweet girl. They called me for advice and said they were afraid they would have to put Priscilla down if things got worse. No one wanted her to suffer and eventually she would if the remaining babies didn’t come out. At this point, however Mama Priscilla was not showing any signs of distress, so I was determined to get her help. I knew her only fighting chance was medical care. I asked if they could get her to the University of Florida if I took over her care. They talked to their boss and agreed. It was a win win. Priscilla would have a chance, and she would have a forever home if she survived. And survive she did!

Sadly, there were two piglets that had to be retrieved from inside her and were stillborn, but the good news was that Mama Priscilla would recover and get to keep her baby. The vets told us Priscilla would not have survived had she not gotten care.Presley was able to nurse the first two days, but the vets noticed that Mama Priss didn’t seem to produce any milk after that. Baby Presley has been pan fed every 2-3 hours for the last two weeks. She is a fighter. There have been ups and downs but today she is thriving. They both are, and like all our pigs here we think they deserve the world. Can you help us give it to them?

The funds raised here will all go towards Piggy Graceland. This will include the house shown, fencing, gate, a shade sail, pool, and pigloo. This will be a large enough house/pen for us to save others. We appreciate your help so much and know these girls do as well! They have been through so much!

Yesterday Hope was admitted to BluePearl Vet Emergency Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. She was lethargic, had thrown up and wasn’t eating. They found an obstruction which was removed last night. They called last night at 10pm after surgery to report that everything went well, but that they did have to remove part of her small intestine (the high end of the estimate). The next few days are critical to make sure it heals/repairs properly. Being that it was New Year’s Eve, and we had to go to an emergency vet, the bill is very high. We appreciate anything you can contribute. Hope has been through so much, and we will do anything to get her healthy and home. Thank you!
