Running for Jack : Miles to Beat Pancreatic Cancer
Recently, our family received the difficult news that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. While this diagnosis is a heavy storm to navigate, he is meeting this challenge with the same quiet strength, grace, and resilience that have defined his entire life.
He is a man of patient, steady hands and a deep appreciation for the beauty in things. If you know him, you know his soul belongs on the water, where he finds his greatest peace and freedom sailing the open waves. Back on land, you can find him in his woodshop, carefully carving wood and crafting furniture—transforming raw timber into lasting treasures with the same care he pours into his relationships. He enjoys surrounding himself with the music he loves, finding joy and comfort in the storytelling of bluegrass and the soulful, comforting rhythms of the blues.
He has spent a lifetime creating a safe harbor for his family and sharing his generous heart with friends, leaving an undeniable mark on all of our lives.
That’s why hearing and watching Jack stand up to this disease with such courage, strength, and determination has been so inspiring! It has taught our family that we cannot afford to wait for change—we have to run towards it!
That’s why I’ve partnered with Charity Miles to fundraise for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) in Jack’s honor.
I’ll be lacing up my running shoes to tackle the 2026 Allianz Richmond Marathon in Jack’s hometown. Every step during my training and all 26.2 miles on race day will be turned into a weapon against this disease by raising money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN). My current goal is to raise $300 through this GoFundMe to donate entirely to PanCAN for breakthrough research, patient care, and vital resources for families facing this diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer remains one of the toughest battles in medicine, but with your help, we can bring real hope to patients and their families that share a similar battle to Jack and our family.
Please consider donating today to help me hit my $300 goal. Every single dollar honors Jack’s fight and brings us closer to a cure to Pancreatic Cancer. Thank you, and may God bless you for your support!
