Here's what happened...
A massive amount of water entered the ground floor of the building during a winter rain storm.
Since we are still in the process of re-opening due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the water sat for days before anyone became aware of the situation, which only worsened the damage done.
This flooding required that all the carpet be removed to begin drying out the flooring and drywall. We have initiated the drying out process with dehumidifiers, heaters, and fans, but it is clear that we will need to replace drywall.
To add to our despair, we recently replaced the flooring in the flooded area with new carpet tiles. We are waiting for them to dry out to determine whether or not they can be salvaged.
Props and costumes were also damaged and will need to be thrown away. A team of volunteers has begun the work to clear the space, but we are very short of the skilled labor necessary to deal with this massive issue.
Pacifica Spindrift Players needs funding and volunteers to help ASAP. If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete this online form . And please share this fundraiser on social media!!!
What the money will be used for:
- New drywall and supplies
- Supplies to clean the carpet tiles (or replacements)
- Paint for wall repair
- Replacement props and costumes
- Building materials and storage containers
- Dehumidifiers and fans
- Labor
We are currently working on an inventory of items lost and will update the fundraiser with that information as we learn more.
