Greetings! We are raising money for New Jersey Blind Citizens Association! I hope you will join us...
After providing free services to the blind and visually impaired community for 115 years, we find ourselves in a financial crisis and urgently need your support to continue our weekly programs.
For the many adults who come here, NJBCA is their lifeline. Imagine being unable to leave your home at will, read your favorite book, play a game on your phone, or get lost in social media. Imagine no longer being able to cook, identify items in your pantry, or determine whether something has expired. These are daily challenges for our members, and NJBCA offers them a community of socialization, creative outlets, and peer support.
Now imagine this: a room filled with laughter and stories shared by people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures with one commonality. At NJBCA, our members not only live their best lives despite their visual impairments but also give back to the world. They help with research, inspire others, and demonstrate that blindness does not define their potential. Their positivity and unique perspectives brighten the lives of everyone they meet.
Our members benefit from activities such as tai chi, chair yoga, entertainment, art classes, educational forums, support groups, community engagement, brain games, musical performances, partnerships with universities, and trips to restaurants, parks, plays, and concerts. These programs provide opportunities they would never experience if they were confined to their home. NJBCA is more than just a service provider; it is a place where everyone understands and supports one another.
Founded in 1910 by four courageous blind men from Newark, who risked being institutionalized simply for their blindness, the NJ Blind Men’s Club was established to provide training, resources, and socialization opportunities for the blind and visually impaired.
As we reach this pivotal milestone as one of the state’s oldest non-profits, we are turning to the community for help.
We are deeply grateful for your support, which allows us to continue making such a profound difference in the lives of our members. Together, we can ensure NJBCA’s vital work carries on for years to come.
