Just think, this week, maybe even today as we are going about our day-to-day activities, there will be hundreds, maybe thousands of kids in military families are thinking thoughts that we take for granted every day. They are also feeling sad and tumultuous feelings constantly that we rarely have to deal with! We also have to realize and empathetically understand that these thoughts and feelings are in addition to typical thoughts and feelings experienced by our children and our families. Things like, "Will my dad have to leave again soon?" - "I wonder if mom's ok." - "Does anyone know when dad will be home?" - "I hope mom makes it back for Thanksgiving, or at least Christmas." - "I heard _____ on the news, I wonder how my dad's doing right now?" - " I remember when dad and I:.." - "I wonder if dad's thinking about me right now like I'm thinking about him." - "I wonder when I'll have to leave all my friends again?" "“ "I've never had a friend like ____, I wonder if I'll find another one:" I hope my new friends like me..."

Now turn those thoughts around from a deployed mom or dad's point of view, as well as many more thoughts and feelings by the family as a whole: Pretty moving to think about huh?

I have had the honor for many years to dedicate my life to kids and their families. From my early days with the Globetrotters to my continued vision with the Team Meadowlark Foundation, kids have been a priority. My passion has always been to introduce kids to the joys of basketball and inspire them to pursue greater meaning in life with my motivational message and what some call my personal legacy. Referring to me as "The Clown Prince of Basketball" and other descriptions continue to humble me every time I hear them.

The Team Meadowlark Foundation provides kids of our military families, Club Beyond camp and college scholarships, as well as Grants to committed Club Beyond team members that provide counseling and passion 24/7 to involved military families and their kids.

Kids of our military stationed world-wide know "Freedom isn't Free." Nearly one million American Military Children have had one or both parents deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11. When parents return from deployment, they are rarely the same person. Nearly two-thirds of service members returning from these deployments seek some form of mental health care, and in a 2012 survey, 4,000 American Military Families ranked "the effect of deployment on kids" as their third greatest concern, with pay and retirement benefits for their family as their top two.

We need your help as a sponsor for important scholarships and grants. These overlooked kids who, along with their parents, have sacrificed much for YOU and for America. Your sponsorship will help American Military Families around the world by providing their children with all inclusive basketball camps. This camp was designed specifically for teenagers and will be coached and orchestrated by me personally along with my staff.

We will also be making extremely cool video chronically logging the effect of the Team Meadowlark Foundation on these deserving kids worldwide.
