Dancing With The Stars DBQ
My husband and I met at Clarke University as we pursued degrees in the medical science fields. We never thought we would end up opening a brewpub but life is truly a mystery. The shortage of workers in the skilled trades during our construction phase of the 7 Hills Brewpub build out, along with the daily news blogs of college graduates who can not find jobs, provided us insight into the imbalance of the current workforce. Both fields are crucial to a sustainable economy and Key City Creative seeks out to help restore that balance through building, collaboration, and education. Key City Creative is a non-profit business whose vision is to help fill the workforce gap by providing membership opportunities for individuals to utilize machines/equipment, attend workshops/seminars, and develop start up business plans for those with the entrepreneurial spirit in the skilled trades professions. From hobbyists to professionals, members of all walks of life come to the 'shop' honing their skills in woodworking, welding, metal working machines, ceramics/pottery, laser engraving, 3-D printing, and sewing.
Key City Creative and 7 Hills Brewing Co. share numerous similarities such as our time in business, passion for community, and D.I.Y. work ethic. Their potential as a community resource is untapped and unlimited. They say the first couple years of business make or break the company and we are grateful for the opportunity help see Key City Creative achieve its vision.
Dancing With The Stars:
Since 2010 the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce Dancing with the Stars: Dubuque Style has raised more than 1 million dollars for more than 80 local non-profits. 7 Hills Brewing Co. was asked to participate and since my husband has 2 left feet, I was the logical choice in representing the company. I have loved dancing since I was a child and have been a student of the art up into my college years. I have since pursued a career as a nurse, had 3 wonderful boys, and am co-owner of 7 Hills Brewing Co. I look forward to this cool opportunity of participating in 2 of my passions simultaneously: caring for people and dancing. If you can find it in your heart to donate, please do. All amounts welcome as we aim to raise $40,000.00 by June 8th, 2019.
