Back the Gearheads' 2025 Robot Journey
Support first robotics competition “FRC” team 1189, the Gearheads. Help Us Build a Robot and Launch Our 2025 Season!
We are the Gearheads Robotics unified team from Grosse Pointe North and South High schools. Our mission goes beyond building robots—we’re dedicated to fostering a passion for STEAM in our community. Year-round, we support middle school robotics teams, host STEAM outreach events, and inspire the next generation of innovators.
Our team has a proud history of success in providing industrial experienced mentors who guide students in hands on learning. Additionally in recent years the kids have won numerous district competitions and have won judged awards such as Innovation in Control, Industrial Design, and Excellence in Engineering just last year winning the title to World Runner-Up at the FIRST World Championship! We have had 3 Dean’s List Finalists chosen to represent the state of Michigan at the world competitions, which exemplifies the dedication and talent of our students.
Beyond robotics, our team members excel in academics, earning numerous AP credits, scholarships, and admission to prestigious universities. Our alumni are studying STEAM-related fields such as Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science at institutions like the University of Michigan, Rose-Hulman, Wayne State, Kettering, Michigan State, Purdue, Michigan Tech, Grand Valley State, and others.
As we prepare for the 2025 competition season, we need your support to bring our next robot to life and represent Michigan on the global stage. Your contributions will help us purchase materials, cover competition fees, and ensure all team members can participate in state (district) and national competitions, including the World Championship in Houston.
Are you or your business interested in sponsorship opportunities? Contributions of $500 or more come with exciting benefits, including featuring your logo on our robot, banners, team t-shirts, website and social media channels —offering exposure to thousands of attendees at events across Michigan and beyond.
No matter the size, every donation counts and is completely tax-deductible. Thank you for helping the Gearheads Robotics Team FRC 1189 build, compete, and inspire. Together, we can make this season unforgettable!
