Phil's Century Ride to Rebuild Ossipee's ADA Trail
So I know this is short notice, but I can’t pass up an opportunity to help a great cause, so bear with me a bit.
This Sat I will set out to complete my 24th 100-mile century bike as part of the GSW Seacoast Century in Hampton, NH. I’ll be riding with a group of friends, including my son (to help drag me along), to celebrate the Granite State Wheelmen’s 50th anniversary ride.
I have been diligently training for this all summer with Chris Elliot, who is also doing a fundraiser for the event, and together we have decided to use this challenging venture as an independent fundraiser to benefit the Friends of Constitution Park in Ossipee, FCPO, New Hampshire - a non-profit organization for which Gloria serves on the Board.
This organization was formed four years ago to revive and refurbish a much-needed community park for the town of Ossipee. While they have accomplished a great deal, there is still much to do, and they are focused on an important priority for the near future, and that is the reconditioning of an ADA accessible trail to access Ossipee Lake. The current quarter-mile boardwalk, built 30 years ago, is now in disrepair and does not meet current safety standards. The belief is that all individuals, regardless of physical limitations, deserve the opportunity to enjoy the Lake, and this boardwalk will make that possible.
In my desire to help, I would be grateful for your support. I can assure you that this is a “one and done” endeavor and will not be an annual fundraising appeal. Of course, there is no obligation to participate, and whether you choose to or not, I thank you for your time and please think of me during my ride on September 21st.
