Crowdfunding for the Free Columbia Artist Residency Program
Spring Crowdfunding is here! We are so grateful to be a community-supported organization, and that the work we do is entirely made possible by donations from folks who share our vision that artistic and cultural work should be accessible to everyone, and that human creativity is critical to transforming the world. It brings such incredible meaning to all of us at Free Columbia, whether a staff member, artist-in-residence, or community member, or participant, to be supported by you. Each donation we receive, big or small, reinforces our drive that the work we do is important for the world, and that creating spaces for artistic practice and creative expression is an act of social change and a statement of love.
The Free Columbia Artist Residency Program is built upon this idea, and we have been so privileged in these last three years to host such wonderful artists, each of whom brings unique ideas, visions, and perspective to our budding program, and takes with them some of ours. In this span, we have been home to filmmakers, musicians, potters, sculptors, painters, dancers, storytellers, and chefs. We have been witness to the power of creativity and community in shaping positive growth in young people, and how a residential program centered around self-designed artistic practice is enabling of inner work, connection and collaboration, and taking next steps in a world that often undervalues art and artists.
We are fundraising to be able to continue to run the residency program here at Free Columbia, which like everything else we do, is offered at a self determined sliding-scale and made possible by donation from a community far and wide of people who are connected to and inspired by this work.
