May is National Mental Health Awareness Month! I joined the Flourish team three years ago because I had lost too many friends to suicide and I wanted to feel I was making a difference in not having that number increase. Since it's founding more than a decade ago, we have been committed to expanding access to affordable, culturally competent, evidence-based behavioral and mental health services for LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and families. Last year, we provided almost 25,000 subsidized therapy sessions through 48 therapists in 14 states. As the development director, ALL of the funds we raise through corporate and foundation grants, fundraising events and individual donations go directly to subsidizing therapy sessions for those who might not otherwise be able to afford them.
