The Florida Historical Society (FHS) is dedicated to preserving Florida's past through the collection and archival maintenance of historical documents and photographs; the publication of scholarly research on Florida history; and educating the public about Florida history through a variety of public history programs. FHS publishes the prestigious Florida Historical Quarterly; produces the popular radio and television programs Florida Frontiers, broadcast on NPR and PBS stations statewide; publishes both nonfiction and fictional books based on Florida history; enables important and meaningful research at the Library of Florida History; provides essential educational outreach around the state; and raises awareness of the rich and diverse history and culture of Florida.
