- Syuk Rocha is fundraisingIn the heart of Detroit, where cracked sidewalks and alleyways are home to so many forgotten animals, I met Syuk.
I first spotted him as a tiny kitten, darting between porches and hiding under cars in my neighborhood. He was just a blur of grey fur—alone but surviving. Months passed, and I feared the worst… until one day, I found him again.
Syuk was now around seven months old, rolling happily on the sidewalk as if he knew he was finally safe. But he had a visible burn scar, likely from being trapped in a fence—proof of what he’d been through to stay alive on the streets. When I approached him, he didn’t run. He leaned into the affection like he had been waiting for someone all along.
Within just one week of food, love, and a warm place to sleep, Syuk gained healthy weight and started thriving. Now, he’s a confident, playful short-hair with a big personality and an even bigger heart.
But Syuk is just one of thousands.
That’s why I’m raising funds for Detroit Alley Cats, a nonprofit that works tirelessly to care for the feral and abandoned cats that call our city’s alleys, porches, and sidewalks home. They provide medical care, food, spaying/neutering, and—most importantly—hope.
Your donation will help more cats like Syuk get off the streets and into safety. Every dollar helps build a shelter, provide a warm meal, or cover life-saving vet bills.
Let’s show Detroit’s alley cats that they’re not forgotten.
Thank you for supporting this cause that means so much to me—and to Syuk.0 supporters
About Detroit Alley Cats, Inc.
Detroit Alley Cats is a no-kill cat rescue organization in the city of Detroit, MI. Our purpose is to improve the lives of inner city cats and to be a resource to the community that cares so deeply about them. We work to reduce the population and suffering of cats living on the street, and prevent more from being displaced, abused, and abandoned. For the feral cats on the street we provide food, build outdoor shelters, and provide medical care including sterilization to control their population. For social, non-feral cats found outside, newborn and young kittens found outside, and cats needing a new home we provide foster care, socialization training, and place into adoptive homes.
