Border Servant Corps, Inc.

Just last week, a group of kids from my school (including me) traveled from the Bay Area to Las Cruces, New Mexico; and El Paso, Texas to study immigration at the Southern Border. Our school ran this program, largely, in partnership with Border Servant Corps, so most of our time at the border was spent seeing immigration and humanitarian aid through their eyes. Border Servant Corps is a nonprofit with locations across New Mexico and Texas that provides shelter and aid for individuals who have been granted asylum and are starting their journey, with little to no resources, into the United States.

On the last day of our trip, we assisted an activity at BSC to play with the kids and many of us were able to build connections with the children and their parents at BSC. Many of them told us their stories about their journeys to the Southern Border and their uncertain paths forward. Some families were traveling with nothing but the clothes on their backs and had no money with them nor did they have any way of accessing money back home.

BSC's federal funding is being revoked and while their doors will remain open, their services and resources will be depleted. My group was so moved by BSC's mission and the families they serve that we were inspired to start a GoFundMe for them and for those individuals. Anything would help, thank you!
