Americares is proud to announce a new initiative that will allow eligible clinics across the United States to order specific quantities of medicines at a time when more Americans are losing access to health insurance and demand for care at free and charitable clinics is rising. Our new Right-size Ordering effort will better support patients relying on safety net clinics for care as an estimated 14 million people nationwide are expected to become uninsured in the coming years due to changes in federal policy and Medicaid spending. Americares is on the ground in #Nepal following catastrophic glacier collapse and flash floods along the Nepal-China border. Our assessment team has arrived in Kathmandu and is meeting with government officials and partners while traveling to impacted areas to assess urgent humanitarian needs. The devastation is widespread, with more than 1,000 deaths reported, thousands still missing, and significant damage to homes, roads, bridges and critical infrastructure. Thousands of people have been displaced, while search-and-rescue operations continue. A 5-ton shipment of critically needed medicines and medical supplies left the Americares Global Distribution Center this week, bound for #Gaza to support people affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The shipment contains chronic disease medications, IV solutions, prenatal vitamins, hygiene kits, menstrual health kits, personal protective equipment and other essential medical supplies. Working in partnership with All Hands and Hearts, these supplies will help health care providers treat patients and meet the most pressing health needs on the ground.
