Car Repair For Disabled Combat Veteran

Donación protegida

Hello all, my name is Rose.  I normally don't ask for help but recently I ran into major car issues that was not told to me when I bought my Jeep Liberty recently. I was taking my car to a mechanic to get it inspected when the check engine light came on.  This makes it an automatic fail in NY.  The mechanic told me I need to replace my catalytic converter and my transmission. Both of which are pretty costly.
(Update 1/23/2019: I took it to a second  mechanic and the only thing wrong is a faulty parking brake which it needs to pass inspection. I adjusted the goal to reflect this)

I am disabled female combat OIF Army vet who suffers from PTSD and depression. Where I live there is no close public transportation. Not to mention almost all taxi companies near my area will not come to my house because the private road leading up to my house is super bad. Uber and Lyft will not come to my house at all. I live practically in the middle of the woods and  pretty far from grocery stores and other stores to get necessities. I also need my vehicle to go to the VA for therapy and to take my dog to the vet.   This also means I can't visit family or friends. My vehicle is my lifeline.

Luckily, my inspection gets me through the end of Jan (I just wanted to get it over with and done) I am hoping with everyone's generosity I can get my car fixed and be independent again. Otherwise if I don't, I will be stuck at home for days on end and ask for rides which I really hate doing (and also people work so sometimes I have to wait a while for a ride to anywhere!).  Please help. I am super desperate.

PS Max says "Please help"
