BLOOM - A shop for foster youth

We are excited to announce a new Fostervand Adoption ministry – Bloom! Bloom is serving Foster Youth and Foster/Adoptive families of Lancaster County. Our mission is to provide a free resource for babies, children and teens to “shop” for new or like-new clothing, shoes and accessories in our unique, boutique style shop! Often children placed in foster care come with just the clothing they are wearing or what can be quickly thrown in a trash bag. Bloom’s desire is to restore dignity and self-worth as well as fill their practical needs. We also hope to encourage and empower foster and adoptive families. 

Future goals are to offer meal vouchers/freezer meals for families bringing home a new foster placement, “Bloom Boxes” (personalized comfort packs to ease fears and nightime worries), a “sensory diet library” and mentoring program pairing seasoned foster parents with new foster parents as well as overall support for foster/adoptive families.

Located on the third floor of St. Mary’s convent, we have worked hard to renovate the space and provide a calm and welcoming place for kids to shop! Bloom will have a small play area for the children to enjoy during their visit here. The volunteers are excited to provide not just clothing, but encouragement for our kids to see themselves as valued and worthy of love and acceptance.
