Hello! My name is Erica and I am 21 years old. My close friend, Lauren has been struggling financially for over a year. I have known Lauren for almost 10 years. We originally met each other online as we bonded over a shared love of music. Despite living in different states, we are so blessed to call each other friends.
Lauren and her mom have been a pair since I first knew her. She and her mom depend on each other and share so much together. Unfortunately, both have been unemployed for the past year. Lauren is already a Certified Nursing Assistant at only 20 years old. She has been passionate about nursing and caring for others from a young age. Born premature and having suffered various health complications, medicine and nursing has literally saved her life many times. Lauren wants nothing more than to give that care back to others. Unfortunately, it is so difficult for young adults to find work within their fields. Since 2013, Lauren has volunteered at her local hospital and been a patient companion. As she applies for jobs, she suffers rejection after rejection due to lack of experience, which is often only attained through employment. As you can see, this is a difficult predicament. Lauren has worked hard to become certified but she can hardly use her certificate at this time. She and her mother have been actively looking for employment for the past year, but have not had much luck.
2015 has not been a kind year to these women. Lauren has been in and out of the ER for the last 8 months due to a formerly undiagnosed chronic condition that causes her so much pain. Recently, her two best friends, her pups, passed away. As I have been Lauren's friend, I have seen that she has never had an easy life, but she has always persevered and been strong. We are not created to carry burdens alone, so I have created this GoFundMe to help her out as best I can. Lauren and her mother are three months behind on their house payments, putting them at risk of being homeless. It would break my heart to see them end this year on the streets. Please help me turn 2015 into a year for them to remember more fondly, as we turn their financial hardship around so that 2016 can be a fresh start, full of potential.
$10,000 is my goal, as this would enable them to catch up on their house payments and carry them through the end of the year. Any and every amount matters, be it $5, $50, or $500. If you are unable to give, please share this page on social media and keep it in your thoughts or prayers. It is my hope that with visibility, miracles can happen.
By helping me reach my goal, I would be so thankful. This is the first time I have used GoFundMe to raise funds. In this world, our friends should never feel alone or abandoned. I, alone, cannot help my friend and her mother get back on their feet, but with you, we can.
You have the opportunity to create a miracle today; please help me.
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? - Ecclesiastes 4:9-11
