Emergency Surgery for my Son

Sometimes random crap happens. My 13-year-old son had a sudden medical emergency this week that required surgery ASAP, and while I'm a big fan of having insurance, certain issues meant coverage was unavailable- including as a solo parent. Even if I find a way to get emergency coverage for him, his recovery will require me either spending less time working for a while to drive him to/ from school or paying a trusted service... his care comes first but I don't know what to expect from the financial fallout. Plus he's going to require some time for adjustment.

I'm not asking for much, but after my own very recent/currently ongoing herniated S1 disk that has been affecting my mobility, the timing of everything is pretty ridiculously terrible. My son deserves good care, I'm trying to handle the insurance issue, and anything to help me focus more on his recovery would be amazing and appreciated.

... additionally I legit have no idea what to ask for, so $500 is the number in place atm. Kid's a trooper and I don't want *him* to stress, either.
I was out of the country for work when this happened, but yay for video chat. He's a good kid and did not deserve this.
