Jackson's Memorial Fund

Shannon and Doug lost their beautiful 4.5 year old son, Jackson, following complications from a tragic food choking incident  this past Sunday, June 9. Jackson was without a pulse for 62 minutes but the incredible first responders, paramedics and medical team were able to bring him back. They were able to get his stats up and give him a peaceful couple of days at the hospital while everyone waited for a miracle. Ultimately, Jackson was never able to  wake up and brain death was officially called Tuesday morning, June 11.

Over the past couple days, Shannon and Doug have been able to get a few more snuggles in and some time to process and make critical decisions on how to move forward. Jackson gave so much to everyone he met throughout his short life, so Shannon and Doug have decided to help him continue to change people's lives and spread his joy well into the future. They are hopeful that he will be able to provide life-giving organ donation and brain donation for further Mowat-Wilson Syndrome research. We will know more about that shortly and update accordingly. Either way, Jackson's legacy will live on for years and years to come.

Mowat-Wilson Syndrome is an extremely rare genetic syndrome that Jackson was born with. Shannon and Doug were always his biggest supporters and were incredible in advocating for him and providing amazing opportunities for him to thrive and shatter the expectations set forth by his diagnosis. Jackson lived life to the fullest, said "hi" to everyone he met and put a smile on everyone's face. He was loved by everyone he ever interacted with. He will be missed so very much and loved forever and ever.

The family will have significant medical and funeral expenses and appreciate any help you are willing and able to provide. Any funds in excess of what they need for medical and funeral expenses will be donated to the Mowat-Wilson Syndrome Foundation in Jackson's name.

Thank you for your financial support and for your continued thoughts, prayers and notes of support for the family during this excruciatingly difficult time.
