CATURDAY Lake Tahoe's 1st Cat Café!

Donation protected
Cats are healing. They teach us to simply be. They have such magical, enchanting, and delightful ways to live, play, and love.

Won't it be amazing if we have a place where humans can be like cats, without a care in the world, stretch & breathe, while sipping a cup of Japanese tea, while orphan kittens, senior & special needs cats get a chance to find their forever family?

So, Tahoe & Northern Nevada's First Mobile Cat Cafe? If you're excited about the idea, please read on!

Why Cat Cafe on Wheels?

Popularity:  Food trucks and the concept of mobility have grown in such popularity during the past decade.  Why not expand the idea to Cats & Tea?

Affordability:  A big savings on rent, overhead, staff, and utility bills.  More we can save, more we can focus on rescuing vulnerable felines, educating the communities, and making your experience a fantastic one.

Quality:  The money we save by being mobile goes directly towards providing you with high-quality, organic Japanese tea & fresh treats, and our kitties with high-quality food & enviroment.

Accessibility:  By being mobile, Caturday Cafe can come to you and visit more communities & events around Lake Tahoe & Northern Nevada.

Efficiency:  We help our rescue partners & organizations save their time and effort by bringing more people.  We also help boost adoption rates for hard-to-be adopted cats (seniors & special needs).  We give them spot-lights and a focused chance.

Charitability: Studies have shown that animal therapy can be a tremendous source of help for those seeking physical and emotional healing.  Caturday Cafe aspires to provide a bit of joy to those who need it most.

And it's just FUN to have a mobile cat cafe! =^._.^=

Are you intrigued?  Then, please continue on to read about our personal story.

Hoku the Cat:  He is our inspiration to everything.  He became a part of our life unexpectedly.  We always loved the idea of having a cat, but we traveled too much.  But when we held Hoku in our arms, there was not a single doubt he was our family.  Then he lead us to the truth of the over-populated feline world.  Do you know how many kittens younger than 8 weeks are euthanized every single day?   Far more than we could have ever imagined.  This information absolutely broke our hearts.  We could not ignore what was going on; our power may be small, but we had to be involved.

CeCe & Her Brothers:  They were 2 days old (just over 80g), cold, and starving when we brought them home.  They were so vulnerable and fragile without their mom.  We gave them around-the-clock care (they were so teeny tiny; we had to use a syringe to feed them), love, and warmth.  But one by one, the boys quickly faded and passed.  We held them in our hands all night as they fought and we cried.  CeCe though, the only girl,  a beautiful calico, was determined to live.  Even when vets gave up on her, she was still determined.  So we kept on for a few more days.  In that very short time, she made us laugh; she was such a feisty one.  Something about her was very special and she taught us how life is a privilege and every moment counts.  Our memory of her taking the last breath is imprinted on us forever.

Sora & Haru:  They were both solo orphan kittens, just a few days old.  Oh... we cannot tell you how many days and nights we spent terrified they were not going to make it.  We used every bit of our skill, experience, knowledge, and resources to save these two babies. Everyday became an accomplishment and celebration.  Now you would not be able to tell Haru had mild  Cerebellar Hypoplasia or Sora used to be almost bald everywhere from severe malnourishment.  They're both beautifully grown up and full of life.

These are just a few high-lights of our life with cats and the reasons why we want to do more.  We didn't plan any of this, but here we are.  So, if you love cats, if you're touched by our story and support our goal, please be involved.  We appreciate any way you want to share this journey with us.

Thank you very much for taking the time and sending us your love!  MEOW ♡

Additional Info -

What is a Cat Café?

It is a theme café whose attraction is cats that can be watched and played with.  Patrons pay a cover fee, generally hourly, and thus cat cafés can be seen as a form of supervised indoor pet rental.  Started in Asia in the late 1990's, and since then, the concept has spread around the world.  Cat Cafés in the United States differ from those in many other countries by their focus on adoptions.  Thousands of cats have been adopted through their efforts.  Within just seven months of being open, Cat Town in Oakland, the US' first cat café, reported that "the euthanasia rate at its partner shelter has declined from 41 to 21 percent, and 184 cats have made the transition from the cafe to permanent homes".  Other cat cafés have similar if not better adoption numbers.  (More on Wiki:  https://goo.gl/UNij1F )
