Help Kevin and Charlene come home

PLEASE HELP KEVIN BRING HIS FAMILY HOME!

Kevin a UK citizen whose only mistake was to fall hopelessly in love with Charlene, a Filipino lady, he settled in the Philippines and had two sweet daughters.

Kevin invested his life savings in a business helping people process Visas. Acting in good faith, they did not think they were doing wrong until, in 2009, they were unexpectedly arrested for ‘illegal recruitment’, a crime which doesn't exist in the UK. Charlene, though heavily pregnant, was thrown into jail with Kevin & their newborn daughter was torn from her.

Despite protesting their innocence, Kevin & Charlene were inexplicably held in dreadful conditions for SIX long years until, in 2014, a judge finally declared them guilty on a technicality and sentenced them to 20 years.

They lost their home, business, possessions & worst of all, their children who were taken into care. Kevin’s elderly parents were also rendered penniless fighting for them. Kevin and Charlene are still in prison and have barely seen the children since. Kevin has gone almost blind due to malnourishment and they are hoping for early release on Clemency grounds. But, if released, their heartache will not end. Kevin will be deported unable to return while, on the other hand, under UK laws, he is restricted from bringing his family to the UK...... a double edged sword and a desperate dilemma!

Kevin’s only hope of ever seeing Charlene and his daughters is for them to register their marriage legally as well as the children as British nationals, then the task of obtaining the proper visas and permits to enter the UK.

We were praying that the UK government would waive their current restrictions and allow them entry to the UK on Humanitarian Grounds. But maybe that would be to much to ask.

Please help so Kevin can bring Charlene and his daughters to the UK, to resume their lives together.

Just a few pounds £5-£10-£25 from each person, friend or well wisher, would give a new life not to just one person but a whole family.

Please find a place in your hearts for this family.

Please pass it onto your friends they need all the help possible thanks and keep the faith!

Help end this heartache, please!

The Taylor's Crime!

Without going into too much detail as maybe there won't be enough space here, I will just outline the main points of their arrest and conviction.

They were arrested for large scale illegal recruitment and estafa in May 2009, the main evidences were sworn statements from 20+ complainants, including two members of their staff. Case no1. (Not one complainant turned up in court, case no1 was acquitted in 2013, due to lack of evidence)

In August 2009, another case was filed against the Taylors from the department of justice for illegal recruitment in large scale, 25 complainants, all but one dropped their complaint and in 2013 they only had the one complainant.

In 2010, the department of justice filed another case in another court in San Mateo, this time 20 complainants, but only 4 came to court and that case was temporarily dismissed in 2013.

In 2010 yet another case was filed against the Taylors, this time one complainant supposedly from Marikina city, this complainant a Filipino living in Canada filed and never turned up in court, this case was acquitted in 2013, again due to lack of evidence.

These were all filed in the regional trial courts in San Mateo Rizal and Marikina city, there was also over 70 cases filed against the Taylor's at the municipal trial courts for estafa (fraud) every one of these cases were acquitted due to lack of merit or no evidence, not one complainant came to the municipal trial court.

In 2013, the one remaining complainant in case two had agreed to desist his complaint, he stood up in court asked the judge if he can desist his complaint. The prosecutor told him that if he did that then he'd have him put in jail for contempt of court, the judge agreed with the prosecutor and he was forced to begin his testimony (our public attorney did nothing to protect him) in all the six years we were in hearings, there were rapists, murderers and wife beaters having their cases dismissed due to this method and the one time our complainant actually came over to us the prosecutor and judge scuppered it, why not for more heinous crimes and why just the Taylor's.

There's a saying in the jails "justice delayed, justice denied" this seems to ring true in the Taylors cases as seemingly the original case was put into place to give the doj time to arrange other cases against them. In the Philippines if you have more than one complainant, then bail is automatically denied.

So in 2014, the Taylor's were very buoyant as there was only one complainant and it was basically his word against theirs. The evidence supposedly put against them was the complainants testimony and two receipts, for English TOEIC tuition, that he had already received, hardly illegal recruitment or estafa, besides there wasn't a signature from Kevin or Charlene on the receipts.

But foreboding started to creep in, at the penultimate hearing Kevin asked their public attorney what RA act blah blah was as seemingly that's the charge against them and all the testimonies concentrated on was the estafa aspect. On asking Kevin was told that RA act was illegal recruitment, which carries a minimum sentence of 8years to 12years. The public attorney for more than 6years didn't know what he was defending the Taylor's on.

Before the verdict Kevin garnered opinion on whether they were going home or not, he's asked most of the guards at the jail, the court staff and most importantly their lawyer, every one was telling them that they were going home, there wasn't any evidence against them and most importantly the lawyer gave a rating of 80% of us going home, he emailed Kevin's father these odds (anyone given an 80% chance would start packing their bags to go home right)

On the day of the verdict October 29 2014, a day etched in both Charlene and Kevin's memory, started well with good luck messages from many. But it was a cold atmosphere in the court, their names were called and they squeezed each others hand, the judge ordered that the verdict be read quickly, the Taylors were doomed, guilty of simple illegal recruitment, sentence 8-12years and estafa 4-8years to run concurrently.

Going back to the jail everyone was stunned, Kevin read the rap sheet, it read as the Taylors already admitted in 2009 that they did not have a licence from the Philippine overseas employment agency to process working visas then as such they are guilty (in 2008 they went to the poea, who told them that to merely process work visas a licence was NOT needed) it was never proved from the complainants testimony that the Taylors recruited anyone.

This is the Philippines, a country where a daughter would accuse her father of rape then drop the case when he paid money, where the police actively and openly extort money from unsuspecting foreigners, where airport personnel place bullets in the luggage of tourists then ask a fee not to file a case against them.

The third most corrupt country in Asia (2005 poll)

But once again when your rock bottom and broke, you just have to go with the flow.

Due to bad advice, vindictive staff and a complete inept lawyer the Taylors now have to languish in one of the most notorious prisons in the world, a family orientated couple thrust into a mix of hard time criminals and corrupt officials a hardship even the most hardened criminals find hard to bear, let alone a soft hearted and gullible Englishman who only came to the Philippines to find love.

If your innocent you would appeal right, but here you have to appeal to the appeal court, average time 2years, then if granted it's for a retrial, the Taylor's just spent 6years on trial, staying in a dungeon. They stopped their appeal instead they are praying for executive clemency or parole this year and even with good time allowance they will only serve maybe 2more years tops. Better to bite the biscuit and go home quicker than to languish in jail for another 8year's.

On release their anguish won't end as for Kevin with his beloved Charlene and his girls, he'd just be swapping one sentence for another.

Please, just to give Kevin hope, to help him with his families papers, so they van all come home together. It was his dream to have a family, his dreams shattered, help him rebuild that dream with just a simple pledge, £5 £10 or £25, the price of a packet of cigarettes, a beer, would it be such a loss to see a destitute family happy again.

Please help Kevin

Kevin and Charlene a match made in heaven.

Kevin for most of his life was searching looking for someone something, never settling down, always restless, he had friends, he has many friends, he loves 60s music, style and scooters, hes an avid football fan his teams are England and Swindon Town, but there was always something missing, his search went on and on, he almost gave up until, one evening in 2004 while Kevin was in a internet chatroom Charlene appeared in his life, a bolt out the blue.

They quickly hit it off and in 2005 Kevin sold all his possessions and moved to the Philippines. To be with his beloved Charlene.

Times were tough for the new couple, Charlene was pregnant with their first child, Charlene Jr. They moved to Baguio city where Kevin started work teaching English to Korean students, Charlene followed suit after she gave birth and they settled into their new life together.

In 2007 they decided to open a home stay for Korean students, which became very popular, this wasn't to last as the students all left at the same time, breaking their contracts and leaving the couple with high rental bills and no income, Kevin found work as a teacher and Charlene tended what was left of the business.

Late in 2007, with Charlene pregnant with their second child it was decided that Kevin was to go back to the UK, to get gainful employment and look into the possibility of Charlene and ChaCha Jr going to the UK, Kevin's parents paid the deposit on a house for them and Kevin went to work for BMW group Swindon, for once in his life he had a focus and that was Charlene and the children. Kevin tried to petition Charlene to come to the UK, which failed as he hadn't been in gainful employment long enough and to compound matters further Charlene was pregnant.

The couple missed each other terribly, Kevin was financing two households, one in the UK and one in a the Philippines. They were unable to save and after 5 months Kevin decided to go back to the Philippines, to be with Charlene and the two girls ChaCha Jr and Charlotte who was born January 2008.

Times once again were hard, they lived in a depressed area in San Mateo, but they were happy, they were living a simple life. Kevin's tax rebates came and they set about deciding what business to go into, Charlene wanted a cafe, but the start up costs and location were not so favourable, many friends and locals were coming to the house asking favour to help them with visa processing, so thinking that they could help the poorer get visas they opened their office in October 2008, their love of teaching English was also strong so they opened up a classroom.

All was well until their arrest, Kevin went into jail some 4 months prior to Charlene, but she still took care of him, sending him food everyday and his other needs.

Charlene would come to the jail and stand awhile in the hope she could see Kevin, she would stand for awhile and then go home. She would never admit this, but many trustees at the jail would inform Kevin that she was indeed there looking for him.

One day, just before Charlene came inside the jail a pastor friend (Mammy Joy) came to see kevin, it was a moment he would never forget, so emotional that day, dissolved Kevin into tears, what it was, Kevin hadn't seen Charlene for months, they desperately wanted to see each other, but how, if Charlene came to the jail she'd be arrested on sight. Mammy Joy, told Kevin how much Charlene loved him and missed him (something that Charlene would find hard to say) but the crux was this, Charlene was outside in a van and I was to hang around the front gate and wait for them to drive past, so that we could see each other, oh what would I do for another day like that now.

When Kevin arrived at New Bilibid, they had no contact for months, the first time Kevin Skype with Charlene, he had a confession to make, he joined a religious organization, thinking Charlene would be angry he sheepishly told her, at this a big smile came across her face and she laughed, you see its like this she also joined the same organization, months prior to contacting each other, they never knew it but they were still joined doing the same things, what was best for them as a couple apart.

They've been inseparable for 11 years, through thick and thin, through good times and bad, they are still together and they have a belief that God has ment it this way for them.

Why should Charlene and the girls come to the UK.

Kevin has the right to family life, this is his family, what is Reformation for Kevin without his beloved Charlene and the 3 girls.

If Kevin comes home alone, he's going to support 2 households again, making it impossible to save for the requirements to bring his family home. When will he see his girls again.

To get worthwhile employment in the Philippines you need police clearance, what kind of employment would be open to Charlene, she's a college leaver, she's young, but she won't find employment in the Philippines to sustain herself and 3 children.

Kevin's health is suffering, he's going blind, has chronic back pain (due to a beating he took at the jail) he can hardly balance at times due to having one foot and one leg shorter than the other. WHO will be there to take care of him, he has a family who are willing to help him, would it be so difficult for the UK authorities to help Charlene to come home with Kevin.

Kevin's parents are now 70+ for all the will in the world to want them to stay in this world, Kevin has to be realistic as to how long they will be with us, Mary and Gerald have never seen their 3 grandchildren, would it be wrong to ask for their grandchildren to see them before they die.

Where else can Kevin turn for help, his parents are almost bankrupt, Kevin and Charlene are bankrupt and Charlene's father is unable to help due to him having a stroke and he also looks after Kevin's children.

Kevin lived and still lives his life for Charlene, he misses he terribly, he misses his children so much, he's not a rich man, he's not from a rich family, but he has a focus and a belief in family life, please help him achieve his lifelong dream of living a simple life with his beloved Charlene, Charlene Jr, Charlotte and Caitlin.
