Equine Assisted Therapy for PTSD
Donation protected
Equine Assisted Therapy is a great benefit to our veterans and can greatly assist their healing. Our vets have sacrificed so much for us, Jeanne and Cyndi want to provide a weekend of equine assisted therapy to aid them in their healing journey. Vets will not be asked to recount their service experiences; instead, they will be offered companionship, support, time in nature with horses and compassionate people, plus a meal, meditation time, and two days of mindful interaction with healing horses.
This experience is a two day healing venture for 6-8 veterans utilizing equine healing modalities, mostly on the ground (does not require or involve riding).
Why horses? They are natural empaths who easily connect with humans emotionally and reflect our feelings back to us. They are non-judgmental, non-critical, curious, and loving. As one veteran so aptly stated "When Kessler [the horse] puts his head on my chest, it's as if he's telling me, 'let me carry your burdens, if only for today.'"
Therapy with horses offers promotion of physical and emotional growth in persons who struggle with PTSD, anxiety, addiction, depression, OCD, social phobia, ADD and ADHD, marriage and family issues, as well as corporate team and leadership training.
Our equine assisted therapy healing weekend will be conducted at Rolling Stone Ranch in Senoia, Georgia. Facilitators are Jeanne Bowers, LAPC and Cyndi Gall, equine specialist. Combined, Jeanne and Cyndi have over 50 years experience working with horses. As a counselor, Jeanne utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mind/body techniques, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
