Margaret's Cancer Journey

On September 2, 2015, Margaret received a life-changing phone call from her primary care physician. She was expecting a call regarding a previous CT scan that she had prior that week but she never expected the results she was given. He informed her she had cancer; somewhere in the abdominal area, but definitely on the liver . That information was the extent of the phone call leaving her and family and friends with so many questions.   After a liver biopsy and a PET Scan, we finally were given the results.  Margaret will be battling Stage 4 pancreatic, liver, and abdominal cancer.  At this stage, the doctors say the cancer is not curable and surgery and radiation are not an option. He did seem very optimistic with four rounds of chemotherapy and "maintenance" chemotherapy once per month thereafter.  Anyone who has had a close relative or friend that has battled cancer knows the major expense of treatment.  A  second and even third opinion is not out of the question but funds are limited at this point.  Also, pancreatic cancer, is becoming more researched. With that being said, clinical trials and alternative treatments could be offered to her but may not be covered by insurance. With this being said, Margaret's family are asking for any donations in any amount.  She is loved by so many throughout the city of Indianapolis, a mother to four and a Mamaw to 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   Even if it's not by blood, she has been "Mom" or "Mamaw" to so many.  Margaret has touched the lives of so many; please come together in a time of need for her.  Thank you all so very much and God Bless. #yourbattleisourbattle
