Hello my name is Mitch and here is my story:
Until November 2013 I was just your average (depending on who you asked) kid. ( lol) First lets back up a little bit and give you the whole story. In July 2013 I was in a motorcycle wreck. I suffered no broken bones but some pretty bad road rash. For the next 4 months I just was not healing and was in extreme pain. During the 4 months I was misdiagnosed as having a vitamin deficiency, also that I was malnourished. Finally they drew blood and when the results came back it showed a white blood cell count of 125,000 (normal being 4,000-9,000). At that point I was sent to the University of Kansas Hospital where I was diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) and admitted. I went through induction chemo for the next month. After my release I was on a 3 year chemo regimen. After about 6 months I had reached full remission and was put on called maintenance chemo (every 4 weeks going in for chemo thru my port). Prior to November 2015 everything was going great. I was working, living a pretty much normal life aside from my every 4 week chemo. This past November when I went in for my 4 week appointment they found something unusual in my blood work so they performed a bone marrow biopsy. The results of that bone marrow biopsy came back showing the cancer had returned 81% from when I was originally diagnosed. I was put back into the hospital for 11 days starting a new trial drug that eventually quit working for me. The day before Thanksgiving I was readmitted into the hospital for the next 28 days undergoing heavy chemo. After all that chemo my cancer is still not in remission like we were hoping so my doctors are going to send me to Seattle WA for what is called t cell therapy to get me into remission. I will have to be there for 6-8 weeks. After I am in remission I will return to University of Kansas Hospital to undergo a transplant. I am requesting the funds to help cover what insurance doesn’t cover, co pays, some medical supplies, truck payment, gas, vehicle maintenance, travel and basic living expenses in Seattle WA. The help means so much to me and I hate asking but I am at a point that I have no other options.
Thank you for your time and God bless.
