HALLOWEEN LUPUS FOUNDATION DONATION

"The word 'lupus' (from the Latin word for 'wolf') is attributed to the thirteenth century physician Rogerius, who used it to describe erosive facial lesions that were reminiscent of a wolf's bite." - Lupus.orgHalloween is my favorite holiday. Three months ago I moved from New York to Los Angeles to follow my dreams as an aesthetician and a health coach, helping young black and brown people, like me, achieve healthy skin and bodies. I've been so busy trying to get my career off the ground, that I didn't have time this year to plan an elaborate Halloween costume like I usually do. (TheGoldenRx.com coming January 2017) SO, in a last-minute scramble, I decided to be a wolf, inspired by @KaylarWill's YouTube tutorial. Now, it is an over-arcing life mission of mine to do everything with purpose, passion and love. To leave this world a better place than I left it. To, "be the change I wish to see". So I thought to trade in my IG/Twitter "likes" for a cause close to my heart. Lupus is an (really terrible) auto immune disease, that (even more terribly) mostly effects women of color. Lupus causes the body to essentially attack itself, for no perceived reason. Common symptoms include: extreme fatigue, arthritis, alopecia (hair loss), chronic pain, extreme fever, kidney problems and the trademark "butterfly rash" on the face. Though I do not know anyone personally who has lupus, I have seen, secondhand, the effects this terrible disease has had on my loved ones. 90% of lupus sufferers are women. Black, Latina, Asian & Native women make up the large majority. ...and because we all know the high-priority the world places women of color , there has be a little progress in the research and treatment of lupus in the last 50 years. This pisses me off. So, if you like my Halloween costume, please donate. If you don't like my Halloween costume, but love women of color, please donate. If you just want to be a good person in the final months of 2016, please donate. Even in you donate $0.50, and share this page, it would mean everything to me. Help make the world a better place than it was when you got here. Thanks you all so much for taking the time to read this. I love you. - Nai, The Beautyologist
