22 veterans per day take their own life! This is a statistic that I was unaware of until a few weeks ago when veteran Marine Nathan Becker informed me. It makes it seem even more important to me now every time I tell a veteran or someone in uniform....."Thank you for your service!" to have a more meaningful thank you because of this. To those currently in our military or veterans of our military that might happen to read this.....THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!!!! I invite and encourage everyone to check out the Facebook page Paddle Four:22. This page was set up for: 1. To bring honor and awareness to those 22 veterans per day that have fought for our freedoms and face significant life challenges upon returning from doing so. 2. To help raise money for a family that has been directly impacted by this, https://www.gofundme.com/2hx9ap0 . And 3. Four of us, Nathan Becker, Shea Bailey, Jason Cochran, and Tabb Shoup , will be taking a kayaking expedition from Lake Sinclair in Georgia, down the Oconee River, to the Altamaha River, and then to the ocean. This page will serve as a conduit for our adventure in honor of those veterans! We will keep everyone posted as we get closer to our departure date and will be posting pictures and videos (given we have cellular service) along our trip. Starting on 9-22-16 to 9-29-16, we will travel approximately 245 miles in 7 days (35 miles per day) and will be camping along the river banks each night in celebration and salute to those not with us today and to pray for those facing a life changing decision. This journey is a minor trek compared to lengths that our veterans have traveled and still venture for our country, physically, mentally, and spiritually. However, we are excited about the trip and hope you will join us with your thoughts, prayers, and salutes to our veterans that make the freedoms in our lives possible! Freedom is not possible without the United States Constitution and those selfless warriors willing to put their life on the line for what so many take for granted.
