Hello. My name is Ender Knight. I'm 37 years old with a large family to support. I have been a waiter most of my life but have had rough luck with jobs the last couple years and am having a hard time supporting my family.
I absolutely love making miniatures. Fantasy armies, terrain, buildings, just about anything. I recently turned my old hobby into a job by making and selling miniatures online and have found I can make a decent profit. What I'm looking for is just enough to get started and not have my family end up on the streets. About half the funds would go towards bills/rent/food to get us along until I can sell some miniatures. The other half would go towards supplies and equipment which would vastly speed up the process and allow much more customization on my part.
I know I can make money doing this. I sold an army of guys on ebay recently and received a lot of feedback from people on the internet complimenting me on my work and requests for custom pieces. The money I made has to go towards rent right now so I have no way to get more supplies to keep this going. Since I am part of many miniature gaming groups I can see that there is a lot of demand for this type of work. I just need the right tools and supplies.
I am currently painting everything by hand, an airbrush would cut the time it takes for me to paint down to a small fraction of what it currently is. An airbrush would also allow me to do effects which are extremely difficult and time consuming to do with a brush. I can also get stencils which would allow me to make some really cool patterns and camo with an airbrush quickly and easily.
Various supplies which would allow me to make a wider arrange of pieces. Clear resin for water and effects. Green stuff for modeling, molding clay, green turf for making plants/trees/moss effects. Sand, paint, brushes, brush cleaner etc. I also need a wider array of miniature pieces to add to my portfolio.
All customization is being done by hand. I have experience doing 3d art. A 3d printer is much more efficient. Once I create the file for a 3d object I always have it and can print out duplicates. I can sell the files for 3d objects I create as well so this allows me to have a product with essentially zero cost except my time. A 3d printer would allow me to make highly detailed customized pieces which are more valuable. I can spend "free" time between doing commissions working on 3d models to use and sell. A 3d printer and program would help optimize the amount of money I can make from home. This would be the most expensive part. Which I'll only be able to get if I reach my full goal.
I love making miniatures. I'd happily do it all day. I can make game pieces, terrain, dioramas, buildings, entire armies, even a miniature radio controlled version of your custom car! Most importantly, I can support my family and do it all from home while spending time with all of them.
This would be a dream come true. It's not an especially expensive or unreasonable dream. Every contribution helps make my dream become a reality. Thank you.
Every dollar helps. If you have any models/miniature projects you would like done please let me know and I can apply your contribution towards that. For every $100 donation I will donate a day of my time to building a miniature army to auction off for art supplies at a local school.
Check out my Facebook page for pictures of the army that sold. I'm working on another one which should be done in a couple days.
