Taylor Ross is a young and healthy man who had an emergency cardiac event on the morning of June 14. He was brought to the emergency room quickly, we are so grateful for the wonderful first responders who showed up for him and worked on him. He was then in the ICU at Duke Hospital until he was thankfully downgraded to the cardiology wing. He has tested negative for Covid-19. He is now in recovery at Duke Hospital in Durham, NC. We are a young family of four, our daughter Brigit is 2 and our youngest Pía is only 4 months.
With the Covid pandemic and recent birth of our daughter, we had already been struggling with the prospect of work and financial balance as a family. With this event, we face an uncertainty we really can't even understand yet. Taylor is a 5th year PhD student who has yet to complete his dissertation at Duke University in the department of Religion. I am an independent media producer with limited time and income in a very difficult moment for my field. As we work to make time for our various projects, fears of unemployment, and sleeplessness while also taking full time care of our kids, we have faced enormous stress, as so many families have during this time. We are lucky to have incredible families and community that has literally carried us through this time.
Taylor is in excellent care today. We are talking every day, he is using his phone to reach out to us as we are not able to be with him due to the current restrictions. He is doing better it seems every hour. We do not know what the future holds for his diagnosis. We are making plans to possibly relocate to create an environment where the kids can be taken care of by their grandparents as Taylor and begin his healing journey. All of this care will of course come at a price. This fundraiser will go directly to caring for his needs in the coming months and in particular any healthcare related bills. We truly love every one of you. Thank you for every way you've already loved us and supported us. We feel your love deeply and widely.
