Hello!

My name is Tamara C. Williams and I am Founder & Director of Music Beyond Measure (MBM). MBM is committed to creating unique music programs to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, & individuals suffering from PTSD develop healthy coping mechanisms to aid in the recovery process. Using a group-centered format, MBM programming promotes a co-creative environment that seeks to support each person during his/her trauma recovery.

Working with survivors has always been a passion of mine because of my own background of abuse. Music helped me to discover who I am and gave me the courage to step into the light from the shadows of trauma. We all know someone who has been affected by domestic violence or sexual assault...a best friend, sibling, parent, co-worker, neighbor, etc. It's an unfortunate reality that exists for countless people who don't know how to find themselves again after experiencing trauma. You can do something to help.

MBM has recently partnered with URINYC,  an organization that provides comprehensive, holistic, and supportive human services programs to survivors of domestic violence. MBM will be running a 12-week songwriting workshop with domestic violence survivors with URINYC's shelter program in Brooklyn. The money raised will help with the costs of transportation, supplies,  and personnel to teach survivors healthy coping mechanisms through the creation and performance of original music. This program will be the first in a series of programs in partnership with URINYC.

Please help survivors of domestic violence take the next step to mental, emotional and spiritual freedom.
