Who Are We And What Is This?
#TheUndercommons is an ongoing public meeting space, initiated by Black graduate students at UCLA and maintained by a coalition of UCLA students and community organizers. The space is meant to facilitate the sharing and collective creation of knowledge with liberatory potential, including ways of knowing often devalued by the university. Through this space, we hope to find ways to achieve liberation from white supremacy, heteropatriarchy, capitalism, settler colonialism, and all forms of structural violence.  #TheUndercommons currently meets in public at the bottom of Janss Steps @ UCLA every Tuesday and Wednesday, indefinitely.

How Will Your Donation Help?
Inspired by the Free Breakfast Program run by the Black Panther Party for Self Defense, the Undercommons' #LiberatethePlate initiative is an initiative to bring healthy produce to food-insecure UCLA students.  Every week, we will give two $26 box of fresh, organically grown vegetables to a randomly selected student.  Each box can feed two people.

We also have a general fund that you can contribute to here, which will go towards the other costs of the Undercommons, including transportation and compensation for the participation of community activists and establishing satellite spaces in LA communities beyond the UCLA campus.
