Chris Kanak's Eagle Scout Project!

Hello, I am Chris Kanak, a Life Scout from Boy Scout Troop 007 in Naples Italy working on my Eagle Scout rank. To earn the rank of Eagle Scout I must direct a service project in which I can show leadership.
What I've chosen to do for my Eagle Scout project is revamp a dog park for a local park that the US Military leases, so NATO members, US Military and their dependants, US Civillians, US Support Staff, and local nationals all use it. Currently the dog park is a large, rectangular grass pad that offers no incentive to use.
While the dog park doesn't have any of these things currently, most of them are on my list of changes to make to the park. There are also other changes that I want to make to it to give people more reason to use it! These are listed below:
- Platforms/Ramps!
- Shade Structure!
- Tunnels!
- Two Dog Parks! (One for smaller breeds, one for larger breeds)
- Weeds Trimmed and Park Cleaned!
- Trees!
The ramps and platforms will be built by hand and installed separately, and I'm looking at buying a pre-made gazebo. But if I have to, I will build something instead. I'm looking at multiple options for a tunnel, the leading option is currently tires.
The dog park is already divided into two parks, but there are three gates in the fence that divides them. The numerous gates are prone to being left open, and while this isn't currently a problem, it could become a potential problem if it received signifigantly more traffic. My plan to remedy this is two close off the two on the ends and install a better locking mechanism on the middle one.
There are several small projects that need to be done to help make the dog park more appealing to dog owners. One of these is to clean up the park. Right now there are no waste bags or cans inside the park, so more often than not, people just leave their dog's waste behind. Installing a recepticle and waste bag dispenser won't completely remedy the problem, but it will help solve it.
As you can see, this is a large project, and for a large project to be successful, I need a large sum of money. While I have more fundraisers planned, I will most likely need more money than I will raise from those alone. Thank your for looking at my project, and please support it.
