Shikitty's Medical Fund
Tax deductible
Hello, I am a volunteer at Shelter Pet Partners and I am raising money for Shikitty (shy-kitty). Shikitty is a 4 and 1/2 month old kitten who has a liver shunt and has lost his sight because of it. A portosystemic shunt (liver shunt) is when the toxic blood is unable to flow from the intestines into the liver because the portal vein does not lead into that organ, instead this large duct is connected to another blood vessel that bypasses the liver and leads directly to the heart. Liver shunts can cause life threatening conditions such as nuerological and behavioral issues , lack of appetite, weight loss. The most frequently observed indications of the condition are central nervous system signs such as hyperactivity, disorientation, temporary blindness and excessive salivation. The vets believe that this surgery will help him regain his sight. Every penny will count. Thank you.
